Newcomer Activities

Welcome home!

Here at Vibrant Pittsburgh, we know it can be tough moving to a new city. So we developed a range of activities to help you start feeling connected to our community as quickly as possible. We hope you’ll join us soon!

Three Women in Cafe

Dine Arounds

Intimate casual dining experiences with professional newcomers and long-time residents - These gatherings are conducted opportunistically throughout the year at the Employer Member’s request, as hosts are available, and as we identify groups of employees that have recently relocated to the region.

City-Wide Dine Around

Building off of the Dine Arounds initiative – the City-Wide Dine Around is a collaboration with the World Affairs Council and NEXTpittsburgh to engage the entire city in an evening of welcoming each Spring and Fall. Newcomers and long-time residents of Pittsburgh come together in homes throughout the area to meet, share, make friends, and welcome new people to the Pittsburgh region. A messaging campaign invites our Employer Members to host dinners and send their employees and partners to these dinners.

Next City-Wide Dine Around: Saturday, October 25

New Arrivals Bridge

A community onboarding initiative for newcomers – welcome initiative designed to introduce newcomers to the region’s unique history and culture, foster networks and bonds among the new arrival cohort and facilitate connections to the region’s diverse array of leadership.

Vibrant Leaders Summit

Our new annual Fall event brings a diverse array of Gen X and Gen Y professionals come together to connect, learn, be inspired and discuss how to build their careers in the Pittsburgh region.

Connecting PGH (intern networking)

A networking reception for summer interns throughout the region – This event is conducted with other young professional groups and with our Member Employers. It is an opportunity for the interns to meet other young professionals who have decided to make Pittsburgh their home and are thriving in the region.

Networking in Pittsburgh (in Partnership with UPMC Residency Program)

A relocating partner welcome reception – Many relocating partners and accompanying families are seeking work and volunteer opportunities. Getting that job search started can be difficult in a new place. This annual event is led by the Physician Support department of UPMC to provide the relocating partners of new Residents with a help making connections and starting their job search in the region. Our Vibrant Pittsburgh Employer Members are invited to send the relocating partners of their employers.
